Detectives from the Central North Command Unit are appealing for witnesses after a police officer was threatened with a knife.

The incident happened on Wednesday, 22 November at about 14:30hrs.

An officer, on a marked police motorbike, saw two men on a moped acting suspiciously in Benwell Road, N7

The officer signalled for them to stop and the vehicle made off, eventually stopping for the officer in Sunnyside Road, N19.

The pillion then dismounted fromthe bike, threatened the officer with a large knife, which he then used to strike the tyres of the police bike.

Both rider and pillion then made off on their bike.

The officer was not injured in the incident.

The rider is described as male, male, aged 18-22yrs, wearing dark clothing and a black helmet.

The pillion passenger was described as male, aged 18-22yrs wearing dark clothing and a black helmet.

There have been no arrests at this time.

Detective Inspector Greg Coates, of Camden and Islington’s Operation Attrition Unit, said:“These men are clearly dangerous and need to be arrested. We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information. In particular we would like to hear from anyone who was in this area at the time and has Dashcam footage. If you were in the vicinity of either in Benwell Road, Hornsey Road or Sunnyside Road on Wednesday afternoon, please call police; your information could be vital.”
