Detectives from the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have charged a Greek Cypriot serving police officer from Enfield borough.
The Cypriot was charged on Tuesday, 18 April, with one count of sexual assault against a female over 16 years of age by touching.
The charge relates to an offence which is alleged to have taken place at a residential address in Enfield on 23 November 2016 while the officer was on duty
He was bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 16 May.
He had been arrested at Enfield police station on suspicion of sexual assault on 23 November 2016 following an allegation made the same day.
The officer has been placed on restricted duties.
