When I was elected in May 2015, I gave a commitment to local residents that I would be a campaigning MP for Enfield North – working hard for our area, our community and speaking up for the needs of people in Enfield.
Over the past two years I’ve worked with local residents to save North Middlesex Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department from partial closure. I’ve held the Government to account over cuts to our schools and our police force. I’ve campaigned to support and improve our local GP services. In all my years as the local MP, I’ve fought to protect services at Chase Farm Hospital, saved Forty Hall from closure and got new schools built in Enfield at Oasis Academy and Keys Meadow.
My track record speaks for itself.
With the announcement of plans by the Prime Minister to call a snap General Election so much is at stake – from the future of our public services, to the prosperity of our economy and our country’s future relationship with Europe after Brexit. In these uncertain times, Enfield North needs an MP who will continue to work tirelessly on behalf of local people and whose priority will be to make life better for Enfield families.
Because we face a stark choice at the next election. Five more years of the Conservative Party who prioritise tax cuts for the rich, who cut our public services – our NHS, our schools, our police and emergency services – to the bone, who fail to build the homes our young people need to get a foot on the housing ladder, and who want to impose a hard Brexit on Britain. A hard Brexit which threatens to rip up existing economic and social protections, including workplace rights, environmental protections and consumer rights. I accept and respect the EU referendum result, but we need to build a strong and close future relationship with our European allies and not turn our back on our closest neighbours.
My job as the Labour MP for Enfield North, is to stand up for the many not just the privileged few, to protect and improve our public services, to help young people build a better life for themselves and to push for the best possible Brexit deal: one that prioritises jobs, the economy and living standards.
In Enfield North, we’ve shown time and again how a campaigning MP, working together with the local community, can protect our vital services.
I’ll always put Enfield first. I work hard every day to repay the trust the voters have placed in me and I will continue to campaign hard for improvements in our area and for the local residents of Enfield.
If you live and work in Enfield North, my job is to fight your corner and that is what I do, day in and day out.
That’s what Labour is for – putting you first.
