St Andrew-the-Apostle School has won its first sporting trophy after winning the Barnet Schools Under 13’s Football Cup on Tuesday (21/3/17).
Year 8 boys beat hosts, East Barnet, 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick by Mauro Bandiera, and a solid performance from mid-fielder, Georgio Stylianou.
More than 40 staff and parents turned up to support the St Andrew’s team and were rewarded with the sight of captain, Kinyemi Lia, raising the trophy.
Deputy headteacher, Mr. Mike Michael, said: “It was a sterling performance from the whole squad and a fantastic display of teamwork. A huge thank you must also go to staff member, Mr. Andy Philippou, who gave up his spare time to coach the team.
“We’re very proud of our boys. Their hard work and commitment have taken them to the top of the Borough.”
