After being told by Barnet council officers that there are “insufficient funds” within the budget to pay for the lights on a christnas tree at Tally Ho.
UK Cypriot Helen Michael who owns Cafe Buzz nearby took it upon herself to decorate the tree other local traders followed suit and Martyn Gerrard estate agents pledged funds towards it.

Labour councillors along with local businesses and residents were calling for lights to be put on the Christmas tree at Tally Ho corner in North Finchley. The tree is a permanent fixture and was installed as part of the North Finchley project funded by the then Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund in 2014.

Councillor Alan Schneiderman s told by council officers that there are “insufficient funds” within the budget to pay for the lights.

    Surely they have enough from the extra £100 million they’ve made in parking and cigarette fines so far. Unbelievable! Well done Helen
