Greek Cypriot Lazaros Lazarou, 64, has completed his third bike ride, this time in Canada, riding from Canmore to Jasper, approximately 400km, in five days.

The present chairman of the Greek Cypriot Association of Wales, has in the past 6 years completed two other rides in America, namely California and New York, raising money for Velindre Cancer Hospital in Cardiff. His mother sadly died at the hospital at the age of 46. With a group of 70 others, the total raised to date is over £2,000,000.

“We did it in five days, going from Canmore to Jasper, over some gruelling hills and 400 tough kilometres,” said Mr Lazarou. He added, “We had sunshine, rain, chaffing and lots of tears along the way but the fun we had with so many awesome fundraisers and the whole reason we are cycling pulled the group along. Everyone supported the people who needed that bit extra at the time.

“My mum would have loved it. I am so grateful to her and to all those who supported and sponsored me,” Mr Lazarou concluded.
