AEK Larnaca took the title of winter champion after finishing top heading into the Christmas break.

Imanol Idiakez’s side defeated Karmiotissa 3-0 on Wednesday while Pambos Christodoulou’s AEL failed to go level on points with the Larnaca club after only managing a draw away to Ethnikos Achnas the following day.

Title holders APOEL are joint second with AEL – and two points behind AEK – despite after labouring to a 1-0 win over Nea Salamina on Wednesday courtesy of Igor De Camargo’s first half header.

Meanwhile, Apollon Limassol and Omonia are in joint-fourth place after both sides produced unconvincing performances in their wins over AEZ (2-1) and Doxa (3-2) in midweek.
