Residents and businesses have been urged to have their say about Haringey’s 2017/18 budget in a consultation which was launched today and closes on 22nd January 2016. The consultation is available here.
Haringey Council has seen a 40% real term reduction in government funding since 2010. The funding cuts and rising demand for council services means that we have to save around £20 million over the next two years.
Jason Arthur, Haringey cabinet member for Finance and Health said,
“The government’s 40% funding cut for Haringey Council and rising demand for our services means we face huge financial challenges. We want to know what residents think about our budget proposals and the tough choices we face. Our budget proposals include a freeze on our share of council tax for the eighth consecutive year because we want to help families on low incomes.
‘Despite the huge financial challenges we remain ambitious for Haringey and want to build on the success we’ve seen as; our children achieved record GCSE and A Level results, new jobs and businesses have moved to Haringey, more support has been given to older residents to live independently and the opening of the Ada National College of Digital Skills.”
Haringey council has a very bad service in general, no help or home improvements when needed but they r the first ones to send you to court or send court letters, but they don’t deliver the service when needed, the state of the houses specials in nowel park state is so poor that the tenants spend loads money that they don’t have to keep the houses warm,windows, front doors, bathrooms are in a very poor state, and the only excuse they have is we have new scheme for homes for haringey, not good enough.
