HARINGEY BOROUGH  3        WALTHAM ABBEY   1

Ryman League Division One North

A cagey first half ended with Borough ahead through a close range finish of a flowing move by Adrian Markus in the 38th minute.    After the interval Borough continued to look the more likely winners but wasted several opportunities to make the game safe before a crude challenge on Ali Setirekli, which earned a yellow card, enabled Daniel Aristidou to double the lead from the spot in the 79th minute.    Substitute Chris Benjamin made the points safe three minutes from time before Arian Retkoceri pulled one back in the last minute.    “The Abbotts”  had created few clear cut chances and fired the best over the bar midway through the second half but did force  a considerable tally of corners without being able to make any count.   Borough ‘keeper Harry Palmer’s best work was the tipping over of two well flighted free kicks from just outside the area, one in each half.
