APOEL of Nicosia achieved a great victory with 4-1 on Saturday against Omonia in the derby of match day 13 of the Cyprus football League.

AEL of Limassol also achieved an important win against Ermis and along with APOEL has decreased the difference to two points from the League`s leader AEK, which drew on Saturday against Anagennisi.

The results of match day 13 are as follow: Omonia-APOEL 1-4, Anagennisi-AEK 0-0, Karmiotissa-Nea Salamina 1-0, Ethnicos Achnas-Aris 2-0, Apollon-Anorthosis 1-1, Ermis-AEL 0-1. Match day 13 wraps up on Monday with the match between Doxa and AEZ at 19:00.

AEL clinched a late winner at Ermis Aradippou on Sunday night to keep alive their league title hopes alive while cross-town rivals Apollon stumbled at home against Anorthosis.

Pambos Christodoulou’s AEL, who are enjoying a flying start to the new season, looked set to endure a frustrating even against hosts Ermis at the Ammochostos Stadium but snatched the late win through Kevin Lafrance after Edin Nuredinovski spilled a shot into the path of the French defender with two minutes left on the clock.

The win saw the Limassol club move level on points with APOEL – 4-1 winners over hated rivals Omonia in the Nicosia derby on Saturday – and just two points behind leaders AEK who dropped two points at bottom of the league Anagennises on Saturday.

Pedro Emanuel’s Apollon also saw their title hopes suffer a setback when conceded a late equaliser in Limassol against an Anorthosis that had been enduring a poor run of form.

Fotis Papoulis had given Apollon an early lead but a resilient Anorthosis fought back to equalise through Airam.
