Unemployment recorded a decrease in the third quarter of 2015, reaching 14,8% compared to last year`s 16,0%, according to the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus.

 

The results of the Labour Force Survey for the 3rd quarter of 2015, showed that the number of employed persons amounted to 358.178 and the number of unemployed persons to 62.139.

 

The employment rate for persons aged 20-64 was 67,6% (males 72,8% and females 62,8%) in comparison to 68,7% in the previous quarter and to 67,9% in the corresponding quarter of 2014.

 

The unemployment rate amounted to 14,8% of the labour force (males 14,1% and females 15,5%) remaining at the same level as the previous quarter (14,7%) and recording a decrease from the corresponding quarter of 2014 (16,0%).

 

The unemployment rate for young persons aged 15-24 amounted to 32,3% of the labour force of the same age group in comparison to 31,7% in the previous quarter and to 33,4% in the corresponding quarter of 2014
