Greece and Cyprus are stability and cooperation actors, a pillar of stability in a troubled region, said Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at the opening of the private meeting with Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades, during the new tripartite meeting between Greece – Egypt – Cyprus in Athens.

As Tsipras said, this will also contribute to the efforts of Cyprus for a viable and just solution that will change the realities and the region.

Greek Prime Minister expressed his great satisfaction over the bilateral talks with President Anastasides and the President of Egypt, saying that “we will proceed with our strategic cooperation”.

Tsipras also referred to the tripartite meeting between Israel – Cyprus – Greece, to be held in Nicosia in January.

In his reply, President Anastasiades thanked Prime Minister Tsipras, indicating the importance of the contribution of Greece to the Cyprus problem, in sectors such as guarantees, which he described as an anachronism.

The goal, as he said, is to address the difficulties in major national issues, based on common principles on which there is convergence of views.

He added that today`s Declaration of Athens further deepens the relationship with neighboring countries, and there are possibilities of expansion as revealed after his visit to Jordan.

Moreover according to sources, the joint declaration is expected to include a reference to cooperation between the three countries in promoting blue economy and the protection of the marine environment during hydrocarbon explorations.
