Minister of Transport Marios Demetriades has described a new project of the Electricity Authority Cyprus (EAC) at the Vasilikos Power Station as one of the most important projects in Cyprus in recent years.

 

The project, at an estimated cost of €1.042.531,was inaugurated by the Minister yesterday, who described it as “highly innovative”.

 

The project includes a modern and comprehensive backup center for the recovery of information systems, technology, electronics and telecommunications.

 

This project, the Minister said, demonstrates that even in periods of economic crisis, it is not impossible to implement great projects.

 

The aim of the project, the Minister said, is to enable the EAC to continue providing its services to the public even in the event of a serious problem that might be caused by an earthquake, war, terrorism, etc.

 

The Minister stressed that the operational continuation of the EAC is of vital importance for the economic activity, quality of life and security of the country.

 

“It is for this reason that this project is one of the most important ones implemented in Cyprus in recent years” he concluded.
