First Division Division
Maronites 0 New Salamis 11
Last year’s champions New Salamis were just too good for the poor Maronites improving their goal average with their goals coming from Deniz Mehmet 3, Kyri Portou 3, Richard Georgiou 2, Steve Velandia 1, George Sifonios and Harrison Georgiou.

Brotherhood 0 Anorthosis 2

Probably the two most inconsistent teams in the league, so realistically it was a game that you could not predict it’s outcome.

There was few chances created in the first half apart from a Ismet of Brotherhood shot that was cleared off the line by Charlie.

Anorthosis broke the ice with a goal from a short distance shot from Wayne.

Anorthosis made it two with a George Gregoriou short ball in the box to Danny Cool ridge who rounded the keeper to then slot the ball home.

Livadia 0 Cetinkaya Cinar 4
A nervous start for Cetinkaya Cinar as it took them and time to settle. The first half was a tight affair with not many chances being created.

The second half come alive in the 49th minute with Marcus Samuals of Cinar turning and shooting, his effort deflecting past the Livadia keeper for 0-1. In the 65th minute with Cinar in control of the game, Marcus Samuals pounced onto a Omer Cimdiken free kick and bundled the ball into the back of the net for 0-2.
Cinar sqaundered a few more chances and then Marcus received a long ball and neatly put it away for 0-3 on 76 minutes for his hatrick.
A minute later the on fire Marcus scored the goal of the game and his fourth, hitting the ball on a half volley into the roof of the net from just inside the box, 0-4. A much needed and well deserved first win of the season for Cinar.

KLN 2 Tripimeni-Olympia 4

Tripimeni-Olympia are back in there showing what a formidable team they are but KLN shook them a bit by equalising twice at 1-1 and 2-2. Their goals came when Nurhan picked up the ball just outside the area after receiving a pass from Chris Papacosta, he took one touch and shot passed the goalie into the top corner.

Chris Papacosta got KLN’s second with the goal of the game, he won the ball in the midfield and turned 4 defenders inside out before drilling a low shot passed the oncoming keeper

Tripimeni-Olympia first goal, Ricky Lucas cross and a great first touch and finish by Lucas Kyriacou. Second goal, great pace shown by Ricky Lucas and a delicate lob over the oncoming goalkeeper. Third goal, Ricky Lucas with a superb turn and a finish into the bottom corner. Fourth goal, determined and powerful from David Lardi and a fantastic finish over the keeper. Considering Tripimeni Olympia had numerous players missing, they still played very well.

Second Division

St Panteleimon 0 Achna 3

This was the ultimate in a first v bottom clash. With the ‘Saints’ six points ahead of their nearest rivals and Akhna languishing seven points adrift at the bottom, there could only be one winner. Or could there? Just as the Premier League has been unpredictable this season so has KOPA league 2.

With high winds and blustering rain it was clear that each team would have to make their changes count. On 5 minutes, Akhna were given a free kick on the right hand side not far from the half way line.

Nick Kyriacou took what was meant to be a lob into the penalty area and saw his shot swerve in the difficult conditions confusing the Saints keeper. The ball went over the keepers head and into the goal. I have no doubt that Nick would say he meant that one. Akhna had experienced quick equalizers when they found themselves one up and were determined to hold steady at the back this time.

With the Saints putting on the pressure it was Akhna who broke free and in a quick attack that involved a number of players, Chris Petrou, shot and hit the post and in the rebound he managed to head the ball into the net to continue his fine goalscoring form. 2-0 after 25 minutes. For the rest of the match, possession and chances mostly fell to St Panteleimon who were just unable to break down a stubborn Akhna defence led by Dassos Anastasi .

On 79 minutes, on a rare break for Akhna, Alezandros Chrysanthou took a cross ball from Chris Petrou and found himself one to one with the keeper and shot a bullet of a kick to the goalie’s right. It was really only after the third goal that the Saints realised the game was up. With tired legs but an abundance of spirit and determination, Akhna managed to win only their second match of the season. This second division is proving to be full of surprises.

A special thanks from Akhna goes to Kevin Boateng who was asked to play out of position and took his Chairman’s man of the match award”

Komi Kebir 1 Asha 3

Asha faced Komi Kebir on this windy morning.
The game started pretty even but soon after Asha started to play the ball better and on 10 minutes their striker Antonio hit the bar.
Komi took a major setback on 15 mins when their captain and keeper Ari limped off with a hamstring injury.
Komi took advantage of a defensive mistake and took the lead on 38 minutes with a goal from Chris Andreas.
It felt very promising for Komi with the wind in their favour for the second half but Asha came out stronger with some excellent play and equalised with Antonio
On 58 minutes Asha’s prolific goalscorer Chris Spyrou was on the score sheet to put Asha ahead and that really shook Komi on 72 minutes Chris extended Asha’s lead to put it beyond Komis reach.

Pantel 2 Arachne 0
Two teams with some inconsistent results this season met at Southbury in what turned out to be a game of two halves. Arachne definately had the best of the first 45 minutes but could not put away their chances.
Something in the Pantel half time drinks must have worked as they came out as a different team in the second half and dominated the first 20 minutes and were rewarded with a great headed goal by Andrew Kitipos. As Arachne through men forward in search of an equaliser a brilliantly taken goal by George Costa sealed the 3 points for Pantel.
