re: sexual assault]

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for help in identifying a man after a woman was sexually assaulted in Finchley.

On Sunday, 8 November, at about 20:25hrs, the suspect groped a 31-year-old woman’s bottom and exposed himself as she got off a route 143 bus on Briarfield Avenue, Finchley N3.

The suspect is described as a white man aged about 23-years-old. He wore a beanie style hat, checked shirt and dark coloured trousers.

Officers are releasing a CCTV image of the man taken from the bus and are asking anyone with any information to contact PC Martin O’Donnell on 07826 536146 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 07826 563152, quoting reference 194717.

Unwanted sexual behaviour on the transport network is not tolerated and all sexual offences are taken very seriously.

Always report incidents of this nature to the police. If you have any information please dial 101, but in an emergency always call 999.

The Met recently jointly launched the ‘Report it to stop it’ campaign with Transport for London, the British Transport Police and City of London Police, which aims to further increase the reporting of unwanted sexual behaviour on public transport in the capital.
