Barnet Council’s Community Offer Team has won the Adults Team of the Year Award at this year’s Social Worker of the Year Awards ceremony.

At the time of the nomination the seven-member strong team, made up of social workers, occupational therapists, telecare advisers and assessment enablement workers, was responsible for reviewing the care packages received by Barnet residents. This innovative way of working has since been rolled out across the adults and communities service and offers residents a wider range of services with the right level of care to meet their needs.

The team was also responsible for supporting and sign posting residents to community-based services and projects as alternatives to the council’s package.

The prestigious ceremony took place at Lancaster Gate London Hotel on Friday 27 November.

Chairman of Barnet Council’s Adults and Safeguarding Committee, Councillor Sachin Rajput, said: “We are terribly proud of our innovative and dedicated Community Offer Team. They have improved outcomes for some of our most vulnerable residents and on top of this managed to make £500,000 worth of savings.

“I want to congratulate them on their much deserved award
