AEK Larnaca moved three points clear at the top of the Cyprus football championship  with a dramatic 2-1 win at champions APOEL at the GSP stadium in Nicosia.

Joan Amorin scored after only three minutes, for AEK but Apoel equalised after 31 minutes through David Catala.

The score remained 1-1 until the 72nd minute when Andre Alves hit the winner for AEK.

Elsewhere  Omonia won 1-0 away at Doxa to remain in fifth place on 29 points, while Aris beat Paphos 1-0.

Tonight Wednesday, Anorthosis have the chance to join AEK at the top of the standings on 39 points when they play at Ethnikos Achnas at 6pm.
