Larnaca municipality was represented at the first European cities with salt lakes network recently in Karditsa Greece and its Local Councillor Eleni Louka was elected as Vice President of the programme.

The Cypriot south eastern coastal city which also boasts a salt lake was represented by Municipal Secretary Lefteris Embedoklis and Local Councillor Eleni Louka.

Embedoklis said the election of Larnaca on the board was a very good development as the funding received from specific programmes and projects will turn Larnaca Salt Lake into a tourist and economic hub.

Louka who holds the position of Vice President of the network said it was established in 2012 in the context of a programme Europe for Citizens which funds projects and activities which include the participation of citizens and aims to promote Europe`s common history and values.
