The 81-year-old former Bolshoi ballet dancer Vlason Stanislav who went missing from his Limassol house on Friday was found sleeping under a bush on Sunday by members of search party.
The head of the Limassol CID Yiannis Soteriades, said that Stanislav who suffers from Alzheimer’s and was found in the Panayiotis area in Yermasoyia, had suffered mild hypothermia and was transferred to the Limassol General Hospital for treatment.
His good physical condition helped save his life, rescuers said.
Stanislav who lives in Cyprus with his wife, also an ex-ballet dancer, was found at the bottom of a 50-metre ravine by police and civil defence workers.
Police suspect he managed to leave the house through the kitchen window and climbed over the fence surrounding his home.
His wife reportedly started locking the house doors after the 81-year-old left home three times in the past.
Soteriades thanked police officers, search and rescue (EMAK) officers and volunteer reservists who helped locate Stanislav.
Yermasoyia mayor Andreas Gavrielides was also at the scene.
