European Bank of reconstruction and Development (EBRD) President Suma Chakrabarti expressed his confidence over the Cypriot economy, during a meeting on Thursday evening with Acting President of the Republic and House President Yiannakis Omirou.

According to an official announcement, the meeting, in Nicosia, was also attended by Finance Minister Harris Georgiades.

It is added that Omirou briefed Chakrabarti over the efforts to solve the Cyprus problem, as well as over Turkey`s violations in Cyprus` exclusive economic zone.

He also noted that the presence of EBRD in Cyprus is of particular importance amid the ongoing financial crisis, the island`s economy is dealing with.

Suma Chakrabarti said there is potential as well as the will to take the right track towards Cyprus` economic recovery.
