A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in Enfield.

Four boys, all believed to be aged 13 and 14, have been arrested on suspicion of
murdering a 52-year-old man after a row in north London.

Police were called to a residential address in The Broadway, N9 by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 1950hrs on Sunday, 14 December to reports of a man stabbed.

Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene and the man, aged 52, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2037hrs.

We believe we know the identity of the deceased but formal identification awaits.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Enquires are underway to inform all next of kin.

At this early stage it is believed the victim, who resided at the location, was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of males, believed aged in their mid-teens, as he attempted to gain entry into the block.

The victim – who was with a woman – continued into the block but was followed by two of the males. He was then stabbed.

Detective Chief Inspector Neale Baldock of the Homicide and Major Crime Command leads the investigation. He said:

“Our initial enquiries have established that there was a supervised party taking place at another address within the block and the group of males were trying to gain access to this.

“The victim and this group were not known to each other – what started as a minor verbal altercation has escalated into a shocking act of violence.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 0208 345 1570 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Enquiries continue.
