The highest decrease in air passengers was observed, after Estonia, in Cyprus, while on the whole the EU28 had an increase in air passengers during 2013, compared to the previous year, with the record number of 840 million being carried.
According to Eurostat, in Cyprus there was a decrease of 4,3 and in Estonia a decrease of 11,1%. The highest numbers of air passengers were recorded in the United Kingdom (210 million, +3,6%) and Germany (181mn, -1,3%). London/Heathrow remained the EU`s busiest passenger airport in 2013, with 72 million passengers handled, up by 3,4% compared with 2012. Paris/Charles de GaulleĀ (62mn, +1,1%) was second.
