A 59-year-old Bulgarian woman died of her injuries on Saturday after being hit by a car the previous day in Larnaca.

Police said the woman was knocked down on Patron street by a car driven by a 21-year-old man while she was trying to cross the road. The driver passed an alco-test, said police.

The woman was initially taken to Larnaca hospital but due to her serious condition she was transferred to Nicosia general where she was treated for severe head injuries.

She later succumbed to her injuries at 1pm on Saturday. Cause of death will be determined by a post mortem to be conducted later
