Police were called to Elizabeth Blackwell House, Wood Green N22 at 04:59hrs on Thursday, 19 December, following reports of a female found unconscious.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. A 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are treating the incident as suspicious.

A 43-year-old man attended Tottenham Police Station later on 19 December where he was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a north London police station.

A post-mortem examination will take place today, 20 December, at Haringey Mortuary. Next of kin are aware. Whilst police believe we know the identity of the woman we await formal identification.

Enquiries are continuing, led by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
