Two men have been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred following comments made on Twitter after the Tottenham Hotspur versus West Ham United match on 6 October 2013.

Haringey CID launched an investigation after they were made aware of the tweets, which were of an anti-Semitic nature and made reference to Hitler and the gas chambers.

A 24-year-old man [B] was arrested at his home address in Croydon on Thursday, 12 December on suspicion of inciting racial hatred and was taken into custody at a south London police station

A 22-year-old man [C] was arrested on the same day at his home address in Wiltshire on suspicion of inciting racial hatred and was taken into custody at a local police station.

Previously, as part of the same investigation, on 5 December a 48-year-old man [A] was arrested at his home address in Canning Town by Haringey officers on suspicion of inciting racial hatred, and was taken into custody at a north London police station.

All three men have now been bailed to a date in late January pending further enquiries.

In a separate investigation that also dealt with anti-Semitic tweets relating to the same match, a 55-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead was arrested and cautioned on 28 November for malicious communications.

Police are tracking all abusive tweets, face book and emails when complaints are received they are also able to trace people using pseudo names that have been made up using up to date technology.
