Acting President of the Republic, President of the House of Representatives, Yiannakis Omirou departed on Saturday for Johannesburg, South Africa, to represent President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades at the official events in memory of Nelson Mandela.

On December 10, Omirou will attend a state memorial service which will take place at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. On December 11 he will depart for Pretoria where Mandela will lie in state at the Union Buildings.

Omirou will return to Cyprus on December 13.
