Reports have claimed that the US secret service has identified camps in Cyprus that are used by members of the Lebanese Hezbollah group for military training purposes.

The Politis newspaper quoted the Kuwaiti source Al Ray, which reported that a spokesperson for the US secret services revealed the existence of Hezbollah training camps in Cyprus. However the report did not mention whether the camps were located in the occupied part of Cyprus or on the mainland.

The report claimed that fighters of Lebanese origin with citizenship from a variety of European Union countries attend the camps. After training, these fighters disperse across Europe, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Jordan and Azerbaijan, while some remain in Cyprus.

In 2012, a 24-year-old Hezbollah member was arrested in Cyprus, where he was supposedly based to conduct operations against Israeli missions.
