President Anastasiades has called a meeting with party leaders on Monday amid reports that the Greek and Turkish Cypriots sides are close to agreement on a joint communiqué which will pave the way for the resumption of the Cyprus peace talks.
CyBC’s Istanbul correspondent reported on Saturday that according to informed Turkish Cypriot sources 95% of the communiqué has been agreed.
It said that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu would visit Athens on Thursday and was due in Turkish occupied northern Cyprus on Saturday with developments expected as part of the visit.
Meanwhile the UN Secretary-general’s envoy on Cyprus begins a new round of consultations on Monday seeking to agreement for the resumption of the talks.

    The leaders from both sides need a strong push from behind. Then they will reach a logical settlement. The current statuco hurts both sides very badly, Cypriot people seem not to have understood this, Tommorrow will be too late.
