Nicosia’s Football Club APOEL was defeated Thursday evening in Frankfurt by local Eintracht Frankfurt in a match that confirmed APOEL’s UEFA Europa League exit.

Bundesliga strugglers Eintracht Frankfurt underlined their dominance of Group F with a 2-0 victory on APOEL.

The Nicosia side had a slim chance of advancing from the group to the next stage if they pulled off an unlikely victory against Eintracht, who had already qualified, and Maccabi also lost at home to Bordeaux. They did not.

Meanwhile, Limassol Football Club, Apollon, was defeated last night in Nicosia by Legia Warszawa with 2-0 for the UEFA Europa League.

Apollon ended their Europa League Group J campaign in third place with four points, while Trabzonspor and Lazio advanced through from the top two positions with 14 and 12 points, respectively, after they played out a goalless draw in Rome on the night. Legia remained at the bottom of the group with only three points with their first win in the group stage earned last night.
