AEL Limassol have a clear three points lead at the top of the table after neither Anorthosis nor surprise package Ermis failed to take advantage in a goalless draw. AEL struggled to win on Saturday with a last minute goal from Tarzino versus AEK Kouklion. In other Saturday’s games Doxa beat AEK 2-1 to lift them to 7th place with 20 points while AEK drop to 9th place on 16 points. New Salamis beat their Larnaca rivals Alki 2-1 with their goals from Roke and Diego Leon and Alki’s goal scored by Marios Demetriou.
Yesterday’s other game between Enosis Neon Paralimni and Ethnikos Achnas also ended 0-0.
Anorthosis and Ermis both have 26 points and are in third and fourth place in the league respectively, trailing four points behind leaders AEL.
Ermis have another tough top-of-the-table clash when they play second place Apollon at home, while Anorthosis have a difficult task against Omonia at the GSP in Nicosia.
Paralimni are currently second from bottom in the table with four points collected from one win and three draws. The team started the season with -3 points deducted due to non compliance with UEFA’s financial criteria.
Ethnikos Achnas are still near the danger zone lying in 10th place with 11 points.
Enosis next play a resurgent Apoel at home while Ethnikos Achnas will travel to Limassol to take on AEL.
And tonight Omonia will be looking to close the gap on the leading pack when they take on APOEL in the Nicosia derby with crucial points to play for in the title race.
