Cyprus recorded the second largest decrease in employment in the Eurozone in the third quarter of 2013 compared with the second one, according to data released today by Eurostat.
Employment remained unchanged in the Eurozone and the EU.

On a quarterly basis, namely the third quarter of 2013 compared with the second one, employment fell by 1.4 % in Cyprus and by 0.7 % in Greece.

The evolution of employment in the third quarter of 2013 compared to the second quarter was as follows: Estonia -1.5 % , Cyprus -1.4% , Finland -1.2% , Greece -0.7 % , Spain -0.4 % , Netherlands -0.3 % , Slovenia -0.1 % , Belgium 0.0 % , France 0.0 % , Slovakia 0.0 % , Italy 0.0 % , Germany +0.2 % , Austria +0 3 % Luxembourg +0.5 % , Ireland +1.1 % , Portugal +1.2 % .

On an annual basis, namely the third quarter of 2013 compared with the corresponding period of 2012, the unemployment rate fell by 6.0% in Cyprus, 2.9% in Greece, 0.8% in the Eurozone and 0.3% in the EU .
