Cyprus’ Democratic Party (DIKO) members elect on Sunday their new President.

Incumbent DIKO President Marios Garoyian is up for reelection. The post is also contested by DIKO MP Nicolas Papadopoulos.

Polls open at 0900 hrs local time (0700 GMT) and close at 1800 hrs. DIKO members will be able to vote at polling stations in all the major cities of the island.

A total of 38,605 members have a right to vote.

DIKO is the junior member of the coalition government of President Nicos Anastasiades, who was elected in February 2013.

In the parliamentary elections of May 2011 DIKO won 15.76% of the vote. It participates in the 56 Member House of Representatives with 8 MPs.
