The independent police complaints commission is launching an investigation into the death of a suspect following a shootout with police. Savvas Xenofontos died of wounds when a car chase ended in an exchange of fire between police and a group of men suspected of burgling and electrical store. Complaints commission chief Dr Andreas Spyridakis said two criminal investigators had been appointed under advice from the attorney general and they would carry out the probe alongside the police investigation.
