The Cyprus problem was among the issues UN Secretary General Ban Ki – moon has discussed on the sidelines of the international conference on Afghanistan which took place in Bonn, Germany.

A UNSG`s spokesperson told journalists that the Cyprus problem was among the issues the Ban discussed Wednesday in Bonn with British Foreign Secretary William Hague and Foreign Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu.

The Republic of Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and until today occupy 37% of Cyprus` territory. UN – led talks are underway between the leaders of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities in Cyprus with an aim to reach a solution that would reunify the island under a federal roof.
