Pneumonia singer
flies in for Christmas

BATTLING George Michael flew home for Christmas yesterday after apparently winning his five-week fight with pneumonia. The 48-year-old singer was discharged from hospital in Austria and was expected back at his London home last night. A spokesman for the clinic in Vienna said: “He’s feeling a lot better.

He’s doing so well he’s able to fly again.” Millions of fans feared for the life of Faith star George in November when he was stricken by the potentially-fatal disease. And medics were worried his famous voice could be damaged because of pressure near his vocal cords. But Dr Christoph Zielinski, of the AKH Clinic, reassured fans: “We know he’s doing fine and we are generally optimistic.

” Last week the former Wham! star’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz tweeted that he would be home for the festive season. He wrote: “Christmas at home. I cannot stop smiling today, the best day ever. He is getting better and better.” George had to cut short his Symphonica world tour after falling ill. Doctors diagnosed a “severe pneumococcal infection”. The star was put on a ventilator and allowed complete rest. Rumours of an underlying health problem were vehemently denied.
