APOEL recovered from going down to an early Omonia goal to record a 3-1 win over their local rivals today at the GSP stadium in Nicosia.
Omonia had a great chance to go two up midway through the first half, but striker Freddy failed to convert the chance with only the keeper to beat. A goal just before half time from Athos Solomou levelled Andreas Avraam’s earlier strike. Esteban Solari gave APOEL the lead after Omonia failed to clear a corner in the 74the minute. Solari then sealed the three points four minutes later when he finished off a fine move with only the keeper to beat to give the champions all three points and take them back to the top of the league with 29 points, a point ahead of Omonia with 13 games played in the championship.

In the other games AEL dropped three points at home to Ethnikos Achnas and drop to third place.Anorthosis are in 4th place after defeating Apollon 2-0 with goals from Constantinou and Marchinios. AEK Larnaca beat Anagenissis 3-0 with two goals from Pintado and one from Garcia pleasing their new manager Leon Flemings leaving AEK in 5th place.
