Ethnikos Achnas and Alki moved out of the relegation zone on Sunday after vital wins over Aris Limassol and Nea Salamina respectively.
The most impressive win of the night came in Larnaca were relegation battlers Alki secured a last-gasp victory away to Stephen Constantine’s in-form Nea Salamina side at the Ammochostos Stadium. The game looked to be heading towards a draw until Simos Krassas crossed for Spanish striker Arnal and the former Doxa striker head the ball past the Salamina keeper to secure a vital victory.
At the Dasaki Stadium, Ethnikos continued their recovering form as they secured their biggest win of the season with a 4-0 route of Aris – who went into the game still high from their 2-0 win over Apollon Limassol last weekend. Demetris Simov got the ball rolling on 11 minutes and Aris found themselves in bigger trouble a minute later when Marko Pavicevic made it 2-0. Brazilian midfielder Wender made it 2-0 on 59 minutes to put the game beyond doubt before Pavicevic completed the rout ten minutes before the end.
