Tony Kleanthous and Barnet FC will be hoping forb a bright start next season

Barnet have been handed a trip to Portsmouth in the first round of the Carling Cup.

The Bees will be hoping for a cup run but will have to pull off an upset at the Championship club in the week commencing August 8.

Barnet begin their League Two season under new manager Lawrie Sanchez with a trip to Morecambe on Saturday, August 6.

The Bees’ first match at Underhill will bring back fond memories from last season.

Barnet pulled off a great escape as their win over Port Vale kept them up on the final day of the season and the sides face an early meeting this time on Saturday, August 13.

The Bees take on Andy Hessenthaler and Ian Hendon’s Gillingham three days later at Underhill.

Barnet travel to Dagenham and Redbridge on Boxing Day before visiting Crawley Town on New Year’s Eve.

Sanchez’s side end their campaign with a home game against newly-promoted AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, May 5.
