The Cypriot flag brought by the 35-year old Cypriot scientist David James Stylianou waves at the South Pole. The Cypriot scientist has been to icy Antarctica twice and stayed there for a whole year. As his father Stelios Stylianou, Honorary Consul of Cyprus in Michigan who was born in Larnaca reported in the newspaper “Phileleftheros”, David has worked in Antarctica on behalf of a foreign company which carries out several scientific studies and thus, he had the opportunity to place the Cypriot flag next to the South Pole’s sign.
