Representatives of the European Space Agency (ESA) are currently on a technical visit to Cyprus, from May 11 to 13, in the context of implementing the framework agreement signed between the Republic of Cyprus and the ESA in August 2009.

The representatives will be studying and evaluating, with the Ministry of Communications and Works, the activities in Cyprus related to space research, as well as the possibilities of the domestic market to develop and implement space technologies.

According to a press release, the representatives will meet with governmental departments and private companies, and will visit premises of organisations, academic institutions and research centres active in the space, satellite communication and earth observation sectors.

The framework agreement determines the framework of cooperation in the field of research and the peaceful use of outer space, as well the implementation of plans of mutual interest.
