TOURISM is set to increase even further this month possibly with a 50 per cent boost, according to Cyprus Tourism Organisation chairman Alecos Oroundiotis.

He said most of those tourists would be from Russia.

“We’re expecting a very good April,” said Oroundiotis. “We believe that there’ll be an unprecedented amount of arrivals,” he added.

Russian arrivals are expected to top 300,000 this year, after a steady increase since 2009 with over 148,000 arrivals that year, and 223,000 in 2010. Oroundiotis said that there may even be the prospect of Russian investment in a hotel on the island
