Two more people have died from Covid-19 while another 167 new cases out of 3,226 tests have been confirmed in Cyprus, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday. At the same time 168 patients are being treated for the disease. The condition of 48 of these patients is serious.

The total number of people who have been infected by the coronavirus has reached 22,818 and 127 people have died.

A Ministry of Health press release says both people who died were men aged 80 and 71, both with underlying health problems. So far in Cyprus 85 men have passed away (67%) and 42 women (33%) from Covid-19. The average age of people dying is 80.

In the meantime, 168 people are being treated for Covid-19 in state hospitals. The condition of 48 of them is serious. Twenty are intubated, 8 are treated at an ICU but without the help of the ventilator and 20 are treated in an increased care unit.

Out of 3,226 tests carried out today, 559 PCR and 2,667 antigen rapid tests, 167 Covid-19 cases were confirmed.
 
Ten people tested positive out of 346 samples taken on private initiative, 4 people tested positive out of 47 samples from the Microbiology Labs of General Hospitals, 153 people tested positive out of 2,667 samples tested throughout Cyprus by way of antigen rapid tests.
