NEW YORK – On September 10, the Cyprus Children’s Fund (CCF) announced that it had chosen 18 students to receive $42,000 in scholarships. CCF said that it was dedicated to its mission of awarding these prizes, especially during these difficult times.
Like every year, CCF received a large number of high-quality applications. The members of the Scholarship Committee of the organization, with Chairwoman Elena Anastasiou Rossi based their selections on need and merit.
The Cyprus Children’s Fund, Inc. grants scholarships to students of Hellenic descent that study full time at American Colleges/Universities. The selection of the awards takes place in New York each year, after the applications have been completed and submitted (the deadline to submit applications is April 30 each year).
The President of the Cyprus Children’s Fund Nicos Zittis said, “despite the very difficult circumstances due to the pandemic, we are still in the position to provide a respectable amount of scholarships again this year. The recipients of our scholarships is a group of young women and men with extraordinary academic achievements and talent. We were very impressed with their applications and feel that by awarding them our scholarships, we contribute towards the development of very capable and progressive leaders for tomorrow’s world. Congratulations to all of them!”
Regarding the scholarships, Rossi went on, “the philosopher Diogenes said, ‘the foundation of every state is the education of its youth.’ The Cyprus Children’s Fund is very proud to continue honoring that charge. Despite the challenging conditions we continue to navigate, we are very committed to providing scholarship support for students earning graduate and undergraduate degrees in American colleges and universities. This year’s recipients are pursuing a wide range of study and research including theology, the arts and literature, law, medicine, education and many fields of science and technology.”

The 2021 scholarship applications will be available January 1, 2021 to students of Hellenic origin who are citizens of the United States, Greece and/or Cyprus. Eligible students must be enrolled in September 2021 on a full-time basis in a U.S. accredited College or University. Applications MUST be postmarked the latest by April 30, 2021 and MUST follow all instructions.
