This week has tragically seen many celebrities pass away, including actress Kelly Preston, wife of Hollywood star John Travolta, who sadly lost her battle to breast cancer at the age of 57, London-based YouTuber Nicole Thea who died at the age of 24 along with her unborn baby, and Elvis Presley’s grandson, Benjamin Keough, who took his own life, aged 27.

Entertainment website TMZ reported that Benjamin’s death on Sunday in Calabasas, California, is classified as suicide, quoting police sources who said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the torso.

According to a statement issued to confirm that Benjamin had passed away, his mother, Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, is said to be “completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley,”

She adored that boy. He was the love of her life,” her rep said.

Benjamin was the younger of the two children Lisa Marie had with her first husband, musician Danny Keough, who she divorced in 1994.

An actor and musician himself, he bore a strong resemblance to his legendary grandfather. Even Lisa Marie is taken aback at times when looking at his face: “Ben does look so much like Elvis. He was at the Opry and was the quiet storm behind the stage. Everybody turned around and looked when he was over there. Everybody was grabbing him for a photo because it is just uncanny,” she said in an interview.

One of the last times Benjamin was seen in public with his family was during a vigil at Graceland for the 40th anniversary of Elvis’ death.
