Keble Prep, the independent boys’ school in Winchmore Hill has been recognised by the prestigious Independent Schools of The Year Awards 2020 which celebrates educational excellence and innovation.

This year, the Awards’ judges have considered a record number of entries, looking for examples of schools which have risen to the challenges of the coronavirus lockdown and continued to provide the best possible service. Keble was commended in the Community Outreach category for the positive ways the school has contributed to the local community and are now on the final shortlist. The Award winners in each of the 21 categories will be announced in October and feature in Independent School Parent magazine, which runs the scheme.

Perran Gill, Keble’s acting headmaster, said: “I’m pleased and proud that Keble has been shortlisted for these awards. It’s testament to the way that our school community has adapted over the last few months of the lockdown, from the efforts made by our staff to embrace remote learning and engage pupils, to the commitment to looking after the children of keyworker parents throughout the term and holiday periods.

“However, we have always been determined to welcome children back as it was safe to do so and it is now a real pleasure to manage the return of a growing number of boys to class, where they belong. Another benefit of getting back to normal is that the school can resume other projects that benefit the wider community, such as our all-rounder bursary scheme and our participation in TFL’s STARS scheme which encourages cycling to school.”
