The second floor of the mid-terraced property was destroyed by the fire and part of the roof was damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 1818 and the fire was under control by 1955. Fire crews from Leytonstone, Homerton, Leyton, Stratford and Walthamstow fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
