No COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Wednesday in Cyprus from a total of 2.640 tests, the authorities announced. Therefore the total number of confirmed cases remains at 939.

A press release issued by the Health Ministry said that 539 tests were carried out in the framework of the programme for testing 10.000 employees at hairdressing salons, barber shops, tattoo studios and restaurants.

Moreover 1.069 samples were tested in the framework of the programme for testing 20.000 pupils and school employees and 106 in the framework of the programme for testing 20.000 employees in the retail sector and at construction sites.

Ninety-one tests concerned contacts of already confirmed cases while 102 samples were tested in the framework of the programme for testing specific groups of the population through Public Medical Centres.

Three hundred sixteen tests were carried out by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals while 209 tests concerned people who have been repatriated. Two hundred eight tests were carried out at the private initiative.

Five persons were treated at Famagusta General Hospital, which is the COVID-19 Refence Hospital, until 1500 today. One of them is treated at the Increased Care Unit. One individual was discharged from the hospital. Three other patients are on ventilators at Nicosia General Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
