UK Cypriot Cassandra Stavrou received an MBE last month for her services to international trade.

Cassandra, the founder of the UK’s bestselling independent gourmet popcorn brand PROPER, said: “I always had big ambitions for Proper. But receiving an honour of this magnitude was never part of the business plan.

“When I started 10 years ago, successful female entrepreneurs were awarded very little visibility. If nothing else, I hope acknowledging Proper’s success in this way inspires a new generation of female founders to get behind their big idea. It’s an incredible honour and one I share with my brilliant co-founder and team.”

And things can only get better for Cassandra’s brand as PROPER launched earlier this month in the nation’s favourite coffee chain, Costa.

In an exciting move for both businesses, PROPER’s award-winning popcorn and new lentil chip range, PROPERCHIPS, were rolled out across 1,500 Costa Coffee stores. Responding to the unwavering demand for healthier snacking options throughout the day, the launch sees Costa Coffee switch up its snacks range for the first time in 15 years.

The new listing is set to further accelerate PROPER’s unrivalled growth in better-for-you snacking. Its latest innovation, PROPERCHIPS was the biggest better-for-you launch of 2019.

The brand’s best-selling Sweet & Salty PROPERCORN and two new PROPERCHIPS flavours – Barbecue and Sour Cream & Chive – join Costa Coffee’s largest ever vegan range. Providing a healthier snacking alternative for on-the-go customers, all recipes are gluten-free, vegan and made using natural seasonings.

“More and more people are looking for healthier snacking options throughout the day, seeking out products that deliver on both health and taste”, said Cassandra. “Our ultimate goal for PROPER is to provide the most exciting and innovative better-for-you snacking range and we can’t wait to share our snacks with Costa Coffee customers across the UK.”

PROPER’s Sweet & Salty PROPERCORN (30g), Barbecue and Sour Cream & Chive PROPERCHIPS (20g) will be available in Costa stores nationwide from £1 for a single-serve bag when they re-open following the Coronavirus crisis.
