As the COVID-19 pandemic moves closer to home and grips our beloved UK Cypriot community, we wanted to take another opportunity to send our best wishes to you and your loved ones during the difficult days and weeks ahead. We learn of new, tragic deaths each day and approximately 115 UK Cypriots have passed away from COVID-19 so far, which represents around 2% of total deaths in the UK. In contrast, UK Cypriots only represent around 0.7% of the UK population. We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost friends or family over the last few weeks

As a Federation, we have been supporting our community through these dark days. We have created a comprehensive online support portal to help people access valuable resources covering a wide variety of topics. Visit the portal: www.cypriotfederation.org.uk/covid19support

On our community support portal there is information about our 40 volunteers who are helping get supplies to the elderly, there is a list of home-schooling educational resources, information about grocery delivery options, and plenty of information about how to get further specialist support. If you are elderly or vulnerable, and need help getting food or essential supplies, email us at [email protected], or call us on 0208 4459999.  Our Federation, under the auspices of the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, has also sent over 4,300 food packages to Cypriot students that are stuck in the UK due to travel restrictions, to ensure that they feel welcome and supported through these difficult times.

We want to go further still and expand our free food package initiative to the most vulnerable and those most in need in our community. We are exploring options for doing this, so if you know anyone who is in real need of assistance, please give us a call on 020 8445 9999.

In order for this initiative to be successful we need your support, so please donate what you can afford by visiting our website (www.cypriotfederation.org.uk) and clicking “donate” at the top of the page. For larger donations (above £250) please get in touch with us directly via [email protected]

We will get through this together and we can make a substantial difference to those in our community who are most in need. Thank you to our healthcare workers and other key workers, as well as those of you who are already volunteering and helping the NHS and local authorities. Together we can achieve even more.
