A mum’s remarkable effort makes a really nice story in these extraordinary times 78 years old Kay Neophytou lives in Leyton and is very disabled, has a pacemaker and respiratory issues.  A year ago, following an 8 hour spine operation, she was left able to walk only with sticks.
She wanted to do her bit for the NHS and set herself the challenge of walking 150 laps of her garden to raise her target of £500.  She not only exceeded her targets laps, but she managed to raise nearly £1,500 in less than a week.  She did it all on determination and positivity alone and has been such an inspiration.  She has received money from her Church community, local solicitors and neighbours up and down her road – and at a time of financial uncertainty for a lot of us, this has proved to be even more amazing.
Kay is from Ayia Varvara in Cyprus and is married to Nick from Paphos they use to own a fish and chip shop in Leyton. She has two children Tom and Maria, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Kay would also like to thankher local Cypriot community who are not on-line or have access to Facebook for their incredibly generous donations.
